Friday Freestyle, August 20th

Happy Friday fam! We are over halfway done with August. How!?

What’s on my mind: friends visiting!

We had a great time with Marissa during her visit to Querétaro (sort of learned how to pronounce that)! Super excited for all the content (read: YouTube videos) that will be coming as a result of everything we did together while she was here!

In more exciting news, more friends have pulled the trigger on booking flights to come visit us! We will have friends visiting us in San Miguel de Allende and in Playa del Carmen. I’m super pumped and will need to step up my work regimen, so we can have fun while they visit.

What’s in my stomach: French toast & gorditas

It has been a fantastic week of eating since my last post. With Marissa in town, we ate out a lot more than often. And it wasn’t just quantity–we ate some seriously tasty treats.

Two things stand out in my mind (and stomach? Tastebuds?) at the moment: 1) gorditas from Gorditas El Güero y Lupita from Mercado La Cruz; and 2) the stuffed French toast from PIA.

We had PIA’s divine stuffed French toast for the second time this morning for Marissa’s last meal in Queretaro (video coming soon). It was just as good or maybe even better the second time.

We actually had excellent gorditas multiple times during her stay, but the ones from El Güero take the cake (pun intended maybe?). I might have to run back to the market to get another gordita for breakfast or lunch tomorrow.

What I’m watching: Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 11 & Indian Matchmaking Season 1

Since last week’s hodgepodge of Netflix viewing, I am solely watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race. I will be the first to admit that Season 11 might be the weakest season since I started watching this show. It has recently turned a corner, and now that we’re down to the top 5, I’m really into it.

After I finish Season 11, I will move on to Season 12 or All Stars Season 5 (whatever came next chronologically).

Meanwhile, Yunji started watching Indian Matchmaking while Marissa was here. The show is interesting, but I am sort of lost as Yunji watched quite a bit without me. All I can say is: biodata.

What I’m reading: People We Meet on Vacation

People We Meet on Vacation

I’m currently listening to People We Meet on Vacation. I originally found out about Emily Henry from her book Beach Read. It was Chick-lit-y and romantic, but I enjoyed it. People We Meet on Vacation might be even more romantic (and predictable), but I love vacation/travel and am enjoying what she’s doing with her novel’s timeline.

I am pretty certain I will go re-read (and listen for the first time to) The Harry Potter Series once I am done.

What’s up this weekend?

After four weeks in Querétaro, we are heading to San Miguel de Allende. This whole trip I’ve probably been most excited to go to San Miguel.

San Miguel de Allende has been somewhere I’ve wanted to go for several years, but it has never worked out. San Miguel is 3-4 hours northwest of Mexico City and 1 hour and 15 minutes from the Leon, BJX airport. Because of its location, it has always been tricky to get to for a long weekend.

In addition to wanting to visit this particular city, I’m really pumped for our Airbnb there. Querétaro was the first place we graduated from studio to bedroom. In San Miguel, we will have a staircase! I’m excited to have some extra space and to have (and use) our rooftop there!

Coming soon…

I have a lot of topics on my mind based on some recent reader feedback. The next few articles will be about: 401k > Roth IRA (and other investment/retirement vehicles), do these X things with your paycheck each month, and/or do these X things to reach FIRE starting today (including: top/easiest expenses to reduce and eliminate).

My most recent blog post Reader Case: Non-Six-Figure FIRE? (https://intristang.com/reader-case-2/) Based on this post, I think I will have a few new reader cases coming over the next few weeks.

On YouTube, this Saturday I’ll be publishing Puebla Cost of Living, Regional Cuisine: Typical Pueblan Food (Comida Tipica Poblana), or Museo Internacional del Barroco & Restaurante Intro. I’m a little behind this week, so I’ll need to sort this out tomorrow.

Here’s my most recent YouTube video:

Have a great weekend and see you soon!
